Entrance fees set to rise at Norther Arizona monuments
Flagstaff-area national monuments are going to experience higher entrance fees starting Oct. 1. This increase applies to the Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon and Wupatki national monuments. Visitors will pay $8 for a seven-day pass at Walnut Canyon, for example, up from $5 previously.

El Niño expected to bring heavy rain to Arizona

If Arizona’s monsoon rains have seemed pretty lackluster this summer, experts believe something brewing in the ocean could bring a bigger bang in the coming months.
"This is looking like it is going to be one of the biggest El Niño events we have seen in the last 30 to 40 years," said Randy Cerveny, a professor of geographical sciences at Arizona State University.

Teacher Shortage in Arizona classrooms
HELP WANTED:
Tucson-area school districts had 217 vacant teaching positions as of July 17, an Arizona Daily Star investigation found.
Elementary schools accounted for over a third of the vacancies. Teacher jobs in math, science, English, special education, physical education and media arts also went unfilled.
